In late March, Russian forces detained 32 Ukrainian volunteers who had been providing humanitarian aid to civilians in the besieged city of Mariupol.
A family with two children was driving to the city of Marganets, located 17 km from the occupied territory, when a kamikaze drone crashed into the car. The blow hit the rear part, where the sons were sitting. 19-year-old Maksym received a contusion, injuries to his face and hands, and 13-year-old Artem received a brain injury, severe shrapnel wounds to the head and eyes.
An ambulance from UNITED24 immediately arrived at the scene. Doctors provided the necessary assistance to the man and woman, the eldest son was admitted to a local hospital in a moderate condition. Artem was transported to Dnipro in a serious condition under drips.

Artem's condition is now stable. However, the boy has lost sight in one eye, and doctors are fighting to restore it.
